IDPH Memo: Oversight of Contractors in Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care Settings

A memo from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) highlights the importance of including contractor services in infection prevention protocols to reduce infection risks and maintain compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Key Findings:
Annual Risk Assessments: Contractor services should be included in annual Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA).
Quality Assurance Integration: Contractors must participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and Infection Control Committee meetings.
Ongoing Compliance Monitoring: Infection preventionists should conduct regular audits of contractor compliance with hand hygiene, PPE use, and environmental cleaning standards.
